I think they're so popular because people have become fixated on stuff that is instant, and zipping pictures of their cars, pets, kids, etc.... into cyberspace via email is the perfect way to get instant gratification, and brag/show off at the same time.

The camera is just a medium, if your not interested in photography it doesn't matter what the format is your not going to use it. Being someone that is interested in it some of the key things that I like are (1) instant feed back, you know what you have right away. (2) It is easier to manipulate the pictures with a computer than with film in a dark room. (3) You can take all the pictures you want knowing that your not wasting film, anything that does not turn out you can delete. I hope this answers your question.

I prefer digital cameras to traditional cameras because they don't require film and are easy to upload onto your computer (whereas with regular photos, you would have to scan them onto your hard drive). I don't think it's just a "fad" because I don't see digital photography becoming obsolete anytime soon, unless a better innvoation comes along.

It's most likely a fad..
people only really use digital cameras so they can upload pics on MySpace and the likes..
You should hold onto it tho..
It might come in handy...

digital cameras are just more high tech. you can do more with them, and it saves money because you don't have to buy film, you can delete unwanted pics and save the ones you do want. and you can get better picture detail.
