I have a 9th grade remedial English class that get so bored with grammar lessons, eventhough they are in dire need of them. Please give me some strategies to make this more exciting to them.
thanks

Involve them. Make them the teacher. You can give each one (or team) a grammar rule they must understand and explain to the rest of the class (with examples please).

My students are always entertained when I give them a short text filled with mistakes. They laugh at them and ask who wrote that 'garbage' to which it is my pleasure to answer 'YOU'.

Just some ideas...

By giving some examples and keeping the oral explanation to the very minimum. Then some exercise questions on the board, allowing your students to try first in their work books and then ask who would like to try for to supply the answer.
I have always fiound it easier to teach grammar through construction using exercises such as missing word passages, multiple choice questions and rewrites ( transposition).
An examples of the latter, in case you are not familiar with them are,
1.a) Tom is much taller than Peter.
b) Rewrite using the correct form of the word 'short'
2.a) John did not pass the exam. Mary did not pass either.
b) Rewrite as one sentence without using 'and'.

Above all keep the lessons 'student orientated' with the teacher acting as a sort of animator. Occasionally ask a serious student to come to the board to write or explain the answer.

it is a slower method, but, I think, more effective.

***circulate with an advent powerpoint to commence the classification ***watch a video that could clarify it to them additionally (youtube) ***then hand out a precis of the powerpoint (notes) ***- some thing to contain the entire classification- perhaps an international style of activity, or a jeopardy game (utilising your matters because of the fact the questions) ** i propose the jeopardy game, make it inot a powerpoint and this is going to be relatively hassle-free ***Hand out a prepare sheet of their very own to apply (for those preferring to profit in a quieter putting) and ask them to do it silently to finally finally end up the classification Then circulate over the solutions on the very end and take any questions

You should make your whole class participate in your lessons. You could create a point system and that if more kids participate they'll get points and reward them with parties.

pizza party, snack party, etc.
