It may have something to do with history as the British colonised a large part of the world officially and some more of it unofficially and not only did they take many resources, but they also seemingly left many problems when they withdrew. In many parts, a 'Divide and Rule' policy was used to govern, meaning that groups within native populations were played off against each other. The other leading powers probably did not like Britain's success and vice versa and rivalries with the Germans and French and others, still exist. Furthermore, the British, like the Americans, still get involved in areas which some feel they have no right to. Worse still, Britain is often seen as America's lap dog.
Also, the British go on holiday and get drunk...
Wee, vomit, run around naked, doing things outdoors that should be done in private.
Although, British Tourists money is universally welcomed, this kind of behaviour is not. Not only is it disgusting and disrespectful, but it is also arrogant and inconsiderate.

Because they enslaved thousands, destroyed homes, land, people and traditions. They raped, pillaged, murdered and
generally were evil s**ts. Does that answer your question?
Please people who ask these kind of questions should really open up a history book and learn something about the English.
They had an empire built on hypocrisy as they preached the bible and "civilization" but should the world the meaning of true savagery. I'm people are surprised about why people overseas and also in this country hate the English (and Americans too, for similar reasons). The funny thing is that they have not learned and still behave the same today.
If you don't read listen to the reggae song "Invasion" by Mackabe and learn something. Its old but makes all the points.

The english are disliked in so many places around the world because there is still a section of society in england that believes in the old english "empire" mentality. Which leads to a superiorty complex of gigantic proportions which in turn leads to distain of all other cultures.Needless to say u have to expect a backlash against this kind of thinking. As for the americans well you have to pity them in a way, they are like the big dumb bully in school who will interfere and lash out more out of greed and ignorance than in the hope of doing any good. plus they are led by a man who is himself a puppet for oil interests in the u.s. Sorry bit of a rant there i do apologise if i have offended anyone

Maybe going back to the empire when we ruled a lot of countries? Also because we get involved in things we have no business getting into like fighting wars for other countries causes just for money. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British because of the greed of our government, and all this seems to effect is our own people with bombs going off to get our government back, even though war would not be the consensus of most of the general public.

Were did you get this information from, I have never been disliked anywhere I have travelled to because I'm English, quiet the opposite in fact, I have always found people I have met whilst abroad love the English, went to Cuba this year and they absolutely love us English and can't do enough for you, but basically I don't care if people don't like me because I'm English, I like me and I'm proud of were I come from.

probably because we had been putting our flag in everyones back yards for hundreds of years and saying this is ours now. But I think it was the way of the world back then, if we hadnt someone else would have done and now they would be the most hated in the world, the french, dutch and spainish were bit part players in the take over of the world.

Not in the USA's media anyway. What I don't get is the public animosity expressed so often against the French here.
