I would try to find a simple craft that the kids can do and take home with them. Or how about this one, it will take a bit extra work on your part but really a great idea: Get pottery that can be put in the kiln, and the glaze for it also. Let the kids paint the pottery and after the party you take it to get it fired in a kiln(you can set this up with the place you got the pottery-they should have a kiln and offer you time for buying from them.) then you can pick the pottery up when done in the kiln and when you take the pottery to each child you can drop off the thank you note for their attending the party and their gift to your child.

Kids LOVE the bouncy castle, and it will take up a lot of time.
Break up the serving of food: that is, serve the party foods, then go to some play time, and then do the cake last.
One very successful activity is Simon Says, if you can get one of your friends or friend's husband to conduct it. That also takes time, and is a more organized activity for the children. Another thing kids LOVE is taking chances at the breaking of a pinata (especially if you're having a theme party), where all the candy falls out and the children collect it.
I agree with the other reviewers: you can also let them run around and play. The key is to have some structured time, some unstructured time, food, and something to take home.

Make sure there's some kid-friendly music going on at all times. 4-year-olds really like to dance a lot- they're not all inhibited yet, so they know how to cut loose! Maybe you could have a good old-fashioned game of pin the tail on the donkey (they sell kits for that at party stores), or if there's room and the hall you rented doesn't mind, you can have a pinata. They have some for little kids now with streamers at the bottom that the kids pull on to get the candy out, instead of having to whack it with a stick (I think they're not as fun as the regular pinatas, but they're safer and easier to manage in enclosed spaces.) Also, as the kids are eating their cake and ice cream and whatever else you have provided for them, maybe you could put on a nice, 30-minute cartoon DVD (like Dora the Explorer or Bob the Builder) so they have something to watch while they eat. This will distract them enough to cut down on incidents like cake being thrown, and it will also give the parents a little break to recharge their batteries. It sounds llike a fun party, and I'm sure your child will have a great time!!

It sounds super, it does. and that i'm confident the babies will appreciate it, yet. My birthday is 3 days after Christmas and the single element I hated lots approximately it replaced into the reality that my birthday replaced into continuously blended with Christmas. abode replaced into adorned in it, presents adorned in it. My family contributors got here one time to flow to, on Christmas to make a 2 in a million pit provide up. i had to appreciate Christmas as a trip and my birthday by way of fact it is so particular. yet I have been given it without warning. Your daughter won't care and he or she could like it, extremely on account that she is so youthful. 4 12 months olds are not to an age the place that concerns too lots, yet i could pay attention and do no longer forget that often it is a bummer to have a trip/birthday combination.

bored???!!
send the kids home then
it is a 4 year old party not a bridal party
why do you really need all that mess anyway...the kids will not even remember any of it.
I think it is only for you to show how much you can spend on the kids.
cake icecream and a few little things to play and then send them home
