This land has loads of names.
It is now known as "Israel", as most of the parts of it were known as before the Diaspora. Other parts of the land were called "Judah".
Before the modern state of Israel was established, the land was known as "Palestina".
The original name of the area is "Canaan", and sometimes it is referred as "Zion" among the Jews of the world, after the capital city of the united kingdom of Judah and Israel: Jerusalem (Zion is one of its names), who is now the capital city of Israel.

Romans named the land Palestine in order to humiliate the Jews(which they had conquered). It is Canaan, or if you prefer, Israel. The people of Palestine were ancient enemies of the Israelites.

According to the Bible, when the Hebrews escaped from Eygpt, they were commanded to go up and take the land of Canaan for their own. This appears to be the oldest name for the area since Genesis 11:31 refers to it as the place where God told Terah to take his sons Abram (Abraham) and Lot to live.
