if it is only in your room there must be a source
to find it all you have to do is plug one ear - place a tube on the other ( thick cardboard like wrapping paper comes on ) and slowly move around the room - the direction will be obvious - start with the window it could be a nearby power transformer ( if the source is in the wall check the other side before tearing into it - sound is not directional if you don't hear it on both sides it is probably near the wall not in it - like the floor or ceiling at the wall joint )

it variety of feels like it will be some thing electric powered. Having looked on the solutions you've received so a techniques, they say extra or a lot less what i'd propose. although, it can't be popping out of your room or your living house. have you ever an adjacent living house or flat to yours? it will be a refrigerator or imperative heating device, or the different electric powered merchandise alongside with television on standby that you're listening to, out of your neighbours. protection alarm sensors may also reason a severe pitch tone, as can smoke detectors. each and every-ones listening to is diverse, so ask friends to take heed to, and discover out in the journey that they could listen it also. defective street lighting fixtures fixtures may also supply off a severe pitch sound. Sorry i will't come to a call your difficulty with one user-friendly answer, yet wish my advice's help you.

Well, get out of the room first and find somewhere really quiet. Take a rest. Don't suffer a headache just for an unknown sound.

If you are in an enclosed room, where ventilation is really quite bad, open up the windows. The sound could come from inside your ear. Try sensing any difference with door opened n door closed.

Hope this helps=)

The noise may be in your head, if none of the other answers help, ask your doctor to arrange a hearing test. Having said that I remember some years ago reading that some people could hear a noise that no one else could, and it was thought to be telephone wires humming.

Turn off the electricity in your flat/house via the fuse box to see if the noise disappears. If you don't have access to this, try plugging in a (silent) electrical device and using it (a toaster for example) and see if the sound from the wall changes. If it does, it is electrical related.

Is it only in that one room? If it travels from room to room with you then you could be suffering from tinnitus, or 'ringing in the ears'. It can be a real nuisance - I suffer from it occasionally and it drives me mad !!! It sounds like a very, very high pitched tone, more like a continuous squeek than a whistle and it is only just audible in a quiet room. It also comes and goes on its own. Aaaargh !

If you think it may be electrical try turning the power off at the fuse board and see if it is still there. If any doubt call an electrician.
