A person that does not believe in a Deity

Technically, most of these answers are correct. What is missing is that in order for there to be no superior being as determined by the atheist, they themself must be the superior being...as the one determining that there is no other superior to them. In other words, atheists don't believe in a superior being because they believe themselves to be the most superior. They believe themselves to be God...or at least place themselves in the position of God. But since they claim not to believe in a God, it's an interesting paradox.

A true atheist would be one who would not bother to call themself an atheist...they would not bother with even creating an answer to the question of God, as they would believe that there is no question to answer. They would have no opinion on Christianity or any other religions...which many so-called atheists seem to have a strong opinion on.

If somebody told you the sky was falling, how much effort would you put into making sure everybody else thought the person was nuts? Probably not much as, in your estimation, it would be obvious. So why are these so-called atheists so determined to speak out against any deity? Perhaps they are not really so sure of themselves and, therefor, are not really atheists...just people hiding behind a title. Trying to hide from God behind anything is futile.

Atheist. Comes from Greek. A-Theist (Theo) A: with out. Theo: God. So an atheist is that with out a God, that who does not belief.
That is not the only option referring to those who do not belief in God´s existence. There are also the Agnostics. Gnosis means knowledge. So an agnostic is that person who does not "knows" about God.
One makes reference to belief and the other to knowing about. Since God can not be seen I can say nothing about his existence in reference to scientific affirmation. That is mentioned by Kant) But yet i can belief in him.

Atheism is the disbelief[1] in the existence of deities.[2][3][4] It is commonly defined as the explicit (i.e., conscious and deliberate), positive rejection and denial of theism;[5][6] however, others—including most atheistic philosophers and groups—define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities[7][8][9] (cf. nontheism), thereby designating many agnostics and people who have never heard of gods, such as newborn children, as atheists as well.[10][11] The former, narrower usage defines atheism positively, as the belief that no gods exist; the latter, broader usage, however, defines atheism negatively, as the absence of belief in gods. In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong and weak atheism for the former and latter, respectively, to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief or of negative unbelief.[12]

Many self-described atheists share common skeptical concerns regarding empirical evidence for spiritual or supernatural claims. They cite a lack of evidence for the existence of deities. Other rationales for atheism range from the personal to the philosophical to the social to the historical. Additionally, while atheists tend to accept secular philosophies such as humanism, naturalism and materialism, they do not necessarily adhere to any one particular ideology, nor does atheism have any institutionalized rituals or behaviors.[13]

The total and complete opposite of a theist.

It's like; Which came first, the worshipper of the God or the denier of the God?

I personally would like to see one cross the road to get to the other side... Heh heh

An atheist is a person who does not believe in or practice any religion. My father was an atheist and my mother is BIG TIME christian. How they ended up together is a mystery to me.
