My two year old son peed in the toilet, then put a stuffed football in it and tried to flush. He somehow managed to flood the bathroom and the hallway. Now, I can't get the nasty smell out no matter how much I shampoo and febreeze. Any suggestions, or do we have to just rip the carpet and padding up and lay new???

Hi
If it is a musty-urine smell you are smelling, chances are it is from the water flooding the carpet, not the urine.
First thing you have to do is dry the carpet. Stop cleaning the carpet until it is dry (two or three day).
After it is dry then smell the carpet. If it still smells like urine then Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet and pad like the urine did. You may need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly. After you clean the spots, you should shampoo the carpet using this product on the front and back of rug.

i could recommend getting her a crate so she does not have the possibility to potty under your mattress. As for the smell itself, you may placed some baking soda down on the carpet. dirt it alongside the factors that contain the smell. Then take some white vinegar and pour it over the baking soda. Take a scrub brush and scrub the carpet. Use dissimilar elbow grease. It desires to be floor into the carpet in hopes that it will get right down to the padding below. permit it take a seat for a rapid time, and then rinse. Vinegar eliminates the smell. despite the fact that if the urine has already soaked down into the padding, the possibilities which you will get the urine smell out are narrow. The padding could opt to get replaced, the subfloor dealt with, and the two the carpet professionally wiped sparkling or the carpet replaced besides. Vinegar and baking soda is the main inexpensive approach that i be attentive to of. upload: I had the carpets steam wiped sparkling whilst my cat became into urinating on the floor. I could have consulted a expert first. They recommend which you do not steam sparkling the carpets. Any smell it is hiding below would be lifted, making the smell better. specialists can sparkling your carpet, yet they'll use an enzyme killer, will probable tear up the carpet and the padding, handle the subfloor, replace the padding, and the two sparkling the carpet or replace the carpet besides.

the smell wont come out cause its not the carpet thats smelling, you have to pull the carpet up ( dont need new ccarpet) and replace the insalation and padding under the carpet, this isnt pricey and you should only have to replace a small area, not the whole floor. remember not new carpet, new padding. and only a small area. the smell should be gone as soon as u do this. pee soaks into the carpet and seeps down under neath, so cleanig the carpet will get it out but not out the padding. and u cant clean padding cause its very fragile and easy to tear.

Enzymes.....like Natures Miracle. Just follow the directions on the bottle. That will destroy the urine molecules and get rid of the smell. You can pick it up at most pet stores.....probably Wal-Mart as well.

Shampooing the rug afterwards is nice, but not necessary as the enzymes will eat all the biological material causing the bad smell. A good vacuuming should do the trick.

You'll probably have to replace carpet, but you could try Odo-ban. It comes in a gallon jug at Sams. Read instructions. I had a cat pee in my car and it took the smell out. Then a half gallon of pickled peppers broke in my car and if also worked for that.

IF it is as bad as you say.. I hate to say it but it sounds like a new carpet job... As you may know.. the problem is NOT getting the smell out of the carpet but it is the padding that is giving you the problem and it would be nearly...(no.. impossible) to get the smell out of that.. If it was the carpet.. yes.... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

OUT! Pet stain and odor remover. Wal-mart has it for $7.00 for a 64oz jug. It is for pets but worked great for me. I keep 3 boys in my home for a living. We went through the same thing with 2 of them. But let it soak in and sit for 20 min. till it gets in the padding. Then just put towels down to soak it back up. Let it dry on it's on because it keeps working for you.

Try buying a box of baking soda, pour the baking soda liberally on the spot, leave it to sit overnight and vacuum it up the next day.
