You have "nothing" to be "embarrassed" about! Some of us just tear up or cry easier than the rest. You're obviously "sensitive" and probably a very "caring" individual. Those are not traits anyone should be "embarrassed" about.
My husband thinks it's funny when I read cards in the supermarket aisle and get "teary-eyed". I cry when they play our National Anthem or if they play certain hymns in church. And the news, wow, that really gets me going (especially if it involves our soldiers).
The people who know and love you couldn't care less if you happen to get easily teary-eyed, don't you let anyone else make you think it's anything to be "embarrassed" about!
Best of luck, wish there were more people as sensitive as you!

I have the same problem sometimes. What works for me is to have a thought at the ready for just such occasions. It should be something that isn't funny- cuz that might make you cry, too! It should be a factoid based thing- like a historical fact that you can ponder. It also helps me to rub my eyes as if I'm tired and yawn a little if I'm trying to hide the fact that I'm teary-eyed.

You may have to see the doctor on this one. You may have an infection in the tear ducts. Your eyes tear to clean them, they shouldn't do this all the time.

When you feel yourself getting a bit teary, focus only on your breathing and inhale slowly and fully through your mouth and then exhale, then through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.
