Traditionally, this is done in the morning, when your body is getting rid of the de-stressing chemical MELATONIN, which was either used to relax you during the night, or built up in your body because you were relaxed.

In theory, drinking it will keep you chilled out during the day, but physiology is more subtle and complex than that.

One interpretation of the piss-drinking tradition is that it informs you about the progress of your fast (it is often done in conjunction with other detox methods, including drinking lots of proper water); you will detect changes in the taste as the benefits of fasting kick in, and when it's time to stop.

The myth about drinking a junkie's urine is derived from a Lapp (Sami) technique for getting narcotic effects from particular poisonous plants. Apparently, the poison is digested harmlessly by their reindeer, and the psychedelic drug isn't, so they drink the animal's urine after feeding it on the plant. Er, PLEASE don't try this at home...

From the link provided:

Urine is mostly water, and relatively sterile. But this does not mean it qualifies for the recommended 6 - 8 daily glasses of H2O, and here's why: in addition to the water content, urine contains trace elements of hundreds of other things — from undigested alcohol to nitrogen and potassium, and sodium, which makes it such a salty drink. (By the way, the first pee in the morning is more concentrated; and the more water you drink, the more diluted it will be.) Urine could — in rare cases — also have some toxic substances in it, such as lead or arsenic. It can also contain trace amounts of drugs that the urinating person has recently ingested, though probably not enough to actually give the sipper any high or show up on a drug test (in case you were wondering).

yes actually it is very beneficial most people think it is full of toxins that have been flushed out, but infact there is so much goodness still left in . also before a shower or bath you should rub it gently over your skin with cotton wool. it is the best moisteriser ever, just make sure you wash it off after though as some have a strong odour hope this helps :)

There are no known medical benefits, and it won't hurt you if you do. Some circumstances, say in a matter of life and death to stay alive, one can drink it. Pure urine, before it hits the water is 100% pure (germ free) and will not harm someone if they drink it.
I hope your question is out of curiosity.
I read that in a heath magazine.

urine is what your body cannot or could not process. While some of the things in urine may been vitamins and minerals that your body didn't have time to absorbs, it also contains things your body doens't want or need. You'd be better off taking a vitamin

Well I wouldn't try it!!! Besides sounding disgusting urine is made up of the waste chemical products from your body. If the body doesn't need it the first time why drink it. Yukkkk!

I've heard that the first urine of the day has some chemicals that are quite benefitial for the whole body.
But unfortunately, I cannot recommend any site that can confirm this.

I don't care whether it's beneficial or not I wouldn't drink it, anyway surely you body has already taken all the nutrients out of it that you need

It's not beneficial, because for one thing, it has a high salt content. And since it has a high salt content, it doesn't rehydrate the body. I once heard about someone who died of dehydration after he became stranded somewhere and decided to drink his own urine.

If you get stung by a jellyfish put your pee on the sting straight away to neutralise it. If you have ever been stung by a biggie you wouldn't care less believe me!!!!!!!! This is first aid advise in the med if you don't happen to be carrying around a bottle of dilute ammonia.
Would not recommend it as a drink!
