I wouldn't. If you want a layer of protection between the diaper and his bottom, use a thin layer of baby powder with cornstarch.

I don't think that's such a great idea... Diaper rash ointment is medicated... Why expose your child to excess medications if he/she really doesn't need it?

When changing your son/daughter's diaper, clean them thoroughly and ensure their skin is dry... wipe up any excess moisture left from a wipe or cloth before using any other diaper ointment... not doing so would result in excess moisture beneath the ointment and create more of a likelihood of diaper rash.

I like to use Vaseline... it acts as a barrier between the skin and the dampness of a diaper... especially for night-time.

I have never used an ointment unless there was a need. By doing so, your baby's skin may become immune to the ointment. Then when he does have a rash, the ointment may not be affective.

Balmex, A and D, Vaseline. Any of those will do. yet your toddler prob has diaper rash because of the extremely poisonous chemical substances in disposable diapers. My youngest suffered horribly! I textile diapered #2 from age 2 and #a million from 6 months. no extra rash. Plus I have the cutest stash of diapers!

No, save yourself some money! Use it only if he needs it, and be sure to dry the area first with cotton balls or a tissue etc or you're just locking moisture in under the cream!

If he's prone to rash you could use preventative creams but otherwise why bother? Have some on hand but put the money to better use.

Absolutely not. Would you take cold medicine if you didn't have a cold? Use this only after the first signs of a rash. There is no need to use something for nothing. Good luck.

I used Butt Paste whenever my little girl got any sign of redness and she never got a diaper rash. And it has a nice vanilla scent too :)

I put it on my girls and they are 4 mos and have never had diaper rash. Their dr said to use A&D though b/c it doesn't have all of the zinc that desitin has. I think it has helped prevent it.

You don't need to, but I put some on my daughter (almost 3 months) before bed since she is in a wet diaper all night long. It helps prevent her from getting one.
