Whatever you do, please don't give the child a name that she will have to spend the rest of her life spelling for and/or explaining to people (I have a very ethnic last name [which my parents couldn't help, really] and it's a total pain in my a** to have to spell it for people all the time). And don't give her something that will sound dated, either (a friend of mine named her daughter "Jordan" 10 years ago, and the name was already out [way out] of style when she did it).

Try to stay with the classics, and choose something that won't sound silly when your daughter grows up. My mother was kind and wise enough to do this for my sister and me (our names are Rebecca and Amanda), and I assure you that as two women in our mid-thirties, we totally appreciate it!

Personally, I like Catherine, Juliana, Madeleine (this is the French spelling; eliminate the second 'e' if you prefer), Emma, Sarah, Olivia and Alexandra (Alessandra is also very pretty, and even a little exotic).

Congratulations!

Whatever you decide make sure you look up the meaning before you name them. My name means 'wildman' - not very nice of my mother! Congrats and good luck.
