Here's a few things I've heard Americans say about the UK while I've been over there:

"The Beatles come from there, right?"
"You guys still have a queen, right?"
"The English, they live in castles, right?"
"Tony Blair's like a buddy of Bush's, right?"

And one very specific one, when I told these three girls I was not British, but instead came from Ireland.

"Ireland? That's so cool! That's near London, right?"

Surely the good ol' US of A knows more than the above about this land, right?

Blackpool is impressive...i understand human beings imagine of it as naff, yet you've the excitement coastline for the rides n that, a remarkable nightlife, impressive environment, and bigger of all its lots more cost-effective than say London or a "perfect" subject park! There are multiple shipping hyperlinks both through prepare or nationwide convey coaches, and maximum sights are interior about a mile really user-friendly to discover and walk to/from in case you do not want to apply trams/buses. If it does ensue to be sunny you actually have a coastline lol! EDIT: Angel I stay in N.Wales so am nicely conscious it exists lol, yet have not in any respect been to South Wales for an nighttime out so can't propose everywhere there, and its unhappy yet authentic that N.Wales do not have lots to provide a teenage crew on a weekend away, except they are VERY outdoorsy...!

Good Lord, I HOPE not!! I've been to England twice, and I find it a vast region of history, literature, art, well. . . a lot of stuff that I think the United States is still in its infancy with. I mean, our history started with the Native Americans, but the stuff taught in school is mostly after the pilgrims in 1620 - That's only a little over 375 years of history - and England's starts . . . well, a LONG time before that - there are WALLS in England older than that! hahaha - England - a land of everything. Oh, and contrary to popular belief, I kinda LIKED the food!

I see the UK especially London, as the place where I would love to live one day. I spent a month there and cannot wait to go back.

In my case, not at all. I would love to visit the UK in its entirety and see all the little places that people who are 'just a tourist' never take the time to see. I'll admit I don't remember much of what I learned in school about anything at all, but that's why I want to see the world ~ I love to learn, and for me, firsthand experience is the best way to learn. I wanna know more! Can I come visit you sometime? ;)

I know more than that. Goodness, I'm sorry you had to encounter some dumb Americans. It saddens when I think about the image some people have of America just because they had the unfortunate experience of dealing with only the dumb Americans.

All I know is you all have sexy accents. But at least I know that Ireland isn't near London. And the other stupid questions I knew the answers to.

I KNOW THAT BRITIAN HAS FACED TERRORIST LONG BEFORE THE U.S.A. THAT THEY SEEM TO REACT DIFFERENTLY THAN AMERICA DID TO 9/11. THAT THEY LOVE LIFE AND LIVE. IRELAND IS SEPERATE FROM ENGLAND JUST AS SCOTLAND IS. IT IS PART OF THE U.K. BUT HAVE THEIR OWN DIALECTS AND WAYS. I THINK IRELAND SEEMS MORE INTERESTING THAN ENGLAND. THAT ENGLAND IS BUSY AND CROWDED. THAT IRELAND HAS FOUGHT BETWEEN THE CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS.

THAT THE BRITS AND AMERICAN ARE GREAT ALLIES NO MATTER WHO THE PRESIDENT OR PRIME MINISTER IS.

The one thing I think when someone says London or England - is RAIN. It always seems to be raining and miserable there - dark, damp, and I think of Sherlock Holmes (even though he was from Scotland Yard)
