I have dsl, using a 2wire dsl modem/router, XP operating system on a dell 4500.
I think my problem started when I hooked up a centillium voip box (sent by at&t). When voip wasn't working, AT&T had me go online to to the 2wire website and change something about the ISP. The voip began working. Now my laptop cannot see my pc nor use it's printer, and likewise my pc cannot see the laptop (laptop has been wireless normally) I have run the "set-up new network", deleted and reinstalled the printer. I am not too computer savy, does something need to change somewhere else with ISP address?? Another problem I have encountered is with my online bank. They now allow deposits via scanned checks, only when I am on their website and click "scan", an error message appears saying "cannot communicate with scanner".

My guess is you've actually got a couple of separate problems- It sounds like the USB connection to your scanner got bumped loose during your VOIP setup adventure. Is the scanner recognized in other programs (not just your bank's website? My guess is it wouldn't be - check the cables and verify it works normally first)

As for the computers not seeing each other, hmmm. If they both have Internet access, then perhaps they aren't configured as part of the same workgroup. Right click on the My Computer icon, and check identification. The workgroup names must match. Also in your network settings, check the local area connection entry for each machine and make sure that the client for Microsoft networks is enabled- on the PC, you'll have to also enable file and printer sharing for Microsoft networks, and share the printer. But none of this has anything to do with the ISP entry on your router, unfortunately.

i'm assuming you have each and all of the hardware set up (cables and routers and so on.) and you have WIindows XP on all 3 computers. that's basic truthfully. only visit start, administration Panel, community Connections and click on set up homestead community Wizard do this with all computers and confirm one and all has a different computing gadget call yet an same workgroup call. ie computing gadget a million call: residing room Workgroup: homestead computing gadget 2 call: mattress room Workgroup: homestead computing gadget 3 call: pc Workgroup: homestead make certain you enable record and Printer Sharing whilst installation the wizard. To proportion the printer and make it accesible from each and every computing gadget on your community visit the computing gadget that has the printer related to it. as quickly as you have finnished doing the wizard in all computers visit start, administration Panel, Printer and Faxes, seek for the Printer good click and click on proportion Printer. Now visit the pc and the different computing gadget visit regulate Panel, Printers and click on "upload printer". choose upload Printer from distant/community region and decide the printer we only shared and stick to the wizard to place in the motive force. i'm doing all this from memory at my college's computing gadget so i don't have acces to the wizards or administration panels so the names of the techniques would desire to be somewhat distinctive however the belief ought to nonetheless be a similar. solid success

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
