wow...some people need to calm down...all you asked for was a simple answer and they had to bite your freakin head off...sure, while I agree that it's probly best for you to wait and go into labor naturally...I do know that people are induced all the time...and their babies turn out just fine..

I had my daughter at 35 weeks and she ended up having to be in the NICU for five days. (She's fine now.) Your doc wants to wait as long as possible b/c every extra day that the baby can remain in your womb gives him or her that much more time to grow and for the lungs to mature and for that surfactant to form on the lungs to enable your baby to breathe properly. There shouldn't be THAT much pain when the baby drops--maybe some pressure but not severe pain. As for labor and delivery, you know of course that you can get an epidural or other pain relief. But I would wait if I were you. You're not dilated enough to give birth anyway. Some women walk around dilated 2 cm or more for a couple WEEKS before going into labor. Do what your doc says; it's the the best for your baby. Good luck.

I just cannot BELIEVE the reasons people give for wanting to be induced!
Rather than being concerned about how uncomfortable YOU ARE! be concerned about the health and well being of your baby. Didn't you take any classes to prepare you for this journey?
Are you aware that the drugs used to stimulate your labor not only affect you, but your baby also? Did you know that pitocin, a drug commonly used to induce or stimulate labor, can cause seizures in your newborn?
There is NO Placental Barriar therefore everything you take in goes straight to your baby in your dosage? Don't you care about the future health of your baby more than your present discomfort?
How will you feel if later on your child has some problem, emotion, physical, mental or other that could be even remotely linked to your unwillingness to allow your baby to fully mature inside you because of your discomfort?!
You would risk the health of your unborn child by bringing it into the world before he decides he ready? You would make your innocent child suffer the side effects of a drugged birth because you can't follow through with the job you chose to take on?
Sure, take the easy way out. Bring your baby into the world too early. Take the chance that he/she will be born too early to thrie without medical intervention. Take the drugs that will, in some way, no matter how small, will adversely affect your child FOREVER, just because you can't handle the discomfort of the path you chose.

Technically you are full term at 37 weeks. While it is best to let the baby stay put longer (especially for Caucasian boys, their lungs take the longest to mature) if your doctor says things are safe to induce and you are comfortable with that option I'd go ahead with it.
On the flip side you could be a couple cm's dilated for a couple of days or weeks even and let the baby stay put if you'd rather go into labor naturally. If you want to move things along naturally I'd try lots of walking.

I am sure that you are getting tired and ready to see your little one. But unless you are having any physical problems and the baby is fine, I would not rush it along. My baby was induced at 40 weeks and I believe that she might not have been ready. She was 5lb. 8 oz. and I think she may have needed a week or so to gain a little more weight. Remember, due dates can be off by days or weeks and I am sure it is best for both of you to just wait it out. Hang in there! :o)

Sorry just because you want the baby out of you it just does not come out. Babies come when they are ready. Besides, doctors still wait until you have dilated the whole 5cm until they give you the c-section. The best thing to do is to walk the baby down. Start reading the manuals on pregnancy the doctors gave you. The manuals tell you all of this information. It helps to do reading on your current condition.

no dont do that. 36 weeks is still considered preterm, My youngest son was born at 36 weeks and had to stay in the hos for 2 weeks because his lungs werent fully developed. Theres no reason to induce yourself. Every week counts not to mention you have come this far, and dont have far to go, and once that baby is out of your tummy you will miss the feelings, Just try to enjoy them the last few weeks if possible. If you are already at 2 it wont be long and if hes not stopping it then it will come soon. Just believe me when i say every week matters. GOODLUCK. Your baby and your body know when its time

You should do what the doctor says and wait. I walked around dilated 3 for a month with my last baby. You have to be careful going so early. Wait at least 2 weeks.

Miserable is a term for lots of women and there are lots of them who have felt like you are feeling now. 1. do you trust your doctor?
The baby may or may not drop, mine didn't but I felt like a bowling ball was gonna fall out. A lot of things can happen to help the baby develop in 3 more weeks. Unless you have toxiema, or live far away from the hospital. I would take the Dr.'s advice. 2cm, isn't really that unusual for your stage of pregnancy. Best of luck to you. May God Bless

Yes you are miserable and I've been there but I would rather be miserable and give the baby a bit more time to develop then have the baby before its ready and have it be in NICU. Try to hang in there for at least another week or so. Good luck and G-d bless.

36 weeks is still considered premature.
You may be uncomfortable, but the longer the baby stays in to grow, the better.
Schedule a massage. It will help you SO much. It will aleviate some of the aches and pains of pregnancy and help to balance your body so labor will be easier.
Do some pelvic rocking to encourage baby into a good position and make yourself more comfortable.
