Those who fought would probably agree with you. This government is the most culpable.

Not only would the UK have been in a worse state but the World would have been in a much worse state. There would have been total eradication of jews, people with mental health problems, disabled people, the unemployed, trade unionists and anyone wanting free speech etc. No matter how bad you think the UK is, we have freedom of speech and expression and, despite the current bickering in the press and Parliament, we still have religious freedom. These were all worth fighting for, even though the cost in lives was so high. I am so proud of those people who put their lives on the line both military and civilian to protect the rights of the individual. We must also remember that those who had to stay behind suffered too. If you are unhappy with the UK you at least live in a democracy and can affect change. So instead of asking insulting questions, I suggest you stand for your local council or Parliament and make a difference.

That's a somewhat insensitive remark considering the recent remembrance day and as it could be said that WWII was the last "just" war due to the very real threat that Hitler's Germany was posing and it's treatment of the Jews and other minorities which, had Hitler won WWII would no doubt have been extended to murdering many more British people who did not fit the Aryan ideal.
To deal with the actual subject of "the state of the UK" - this country was in a dire state in the late 70's and things changed. If you feel that this country is in a "sad state", I would hope for a better solution than wishing a brutal fascist dictatorship upon it.

This is a horrible question. I think you need to educate yourself a little bit more before asking something like this. Hitler was a dictator, and a horrible one at that, it is not just a particular lack of one people that would exist, nor would we only be speaking German. Take a look at how many were placed in camps, and please note that though there were many Jewish individuals (some of my family as well) there were also people who were thought or claimed to be homosexual, hispanics, and others. Hitler had a perfect race in mind, the Aryian race, which is standardly referred to as being people with blonde hair and blue eyes. Though he himself didn't have these qualities. If you don't believe that things would be worse, perhaps you should find a few veterans who would be willing to explain it to you, or one of the Holocaust survivers who could tell you of the horrific unimaginable things that they and many others went through. Though this problem with terrorism is a large one and we are having many issues on different sides of the board and in several different countries at the moment, we don't have concentration campus, we don't have death camps, and we lack several other horrific elements of WWII. Please, just take a moment to look at the numbers and the numbers of brave men and women who fought and died as well. They did so for you're freedom.

You wouldn't be here and there wouldn't be a UK So who knows?personally I am glad we don't have a Nazi leader (even though I hate Blair) .
What we need is a fair but strong leader who is capable of listening to the voters and not dictating how its going to be,and someone who does what is the best for the uk not for his friends across the sea.I just wish their was someone out there like that and another Hitler figure definitely isn't the answer

Great question. We'd all be driving vw beetles or merc's. Beer and sausages (wurst) would be the national dish. We'd all have blonde hair and blue eyes - which would also mean no mid eastern terrorists, as they wouldn't conform to that & if another state attcked the response would be complete anilhilation of that country which would make bush & blair look like a pair of softies. excellent engineering, no speed limits on the autobahn/motorway, stylish uniforms for all service personnel - hell looking at it we might have been better off! oh just forgot Germany is now ruling Europe with its bestest mate France....

Hell, yes! You need to read up on the plans the SS had for the UK. They would have treated us as they treated the conquered territory in the East. Terror and genocide. Think about it before you make glib remarks like this!
