No, because you shouldn't have to brush hard to get your teeth clean. The brush does the work without added pressure. Plus that's just too rough on your gums

Funny you should ask. Have recently begun spending weekends at g/f's house. She supplied me with a toothbrush. (Avid bargain shopper/bulk buyer; she has ample stocks of just about everything) The bristles were much softer than my usual, and when I tried it out for the first time I found that the forceful brushing to which I am accustomed was forcing the body of the toothbrush (not just the bristles) against my teeth. Quite unpleasant.

For the record. she says it's a guy thing.

I don't think it's just a guy thing. I definitely brush my teeth too hard and I'm a girl. ;)

Not too hard - but I brush often, around 6 times a day.

Sometimes I do and then it hurts for a few days (sometimes develops into a canker sore if I hit some of the soft tissue!)

I do not believe it is a guy thing... jut how we learned to brush our teeth!!

I used to until my Aunt had to have her gums sewn up to tighten them to her teeth, this was due to years of brushing to hard. So now I am more careful, but no matter how much I try to get my husband to calm down, he still beets up that tooth brush daily.

No, it is not just a guy thing. I personally don't, but my grandmother did, and she eventually brushed the protective coating from her teeth. Please be careful.
