Not sure what you are asking. Roofers are local to where you live, not many travel more than about 20 miles so its difficult to answer.
Materials ? Any decent roofer can use ashphalt, clay tiles or slates, it makes no difference to them if they are any use.
ashphalt is the cheapest material to use. Either as straight edge or riven. The riven look more natural...less than £1 each
Slates ? there are several options in the UK. Chinese are the cheapest and look it. the colour variation is too much. Welsh is the best, strong and impermeable and with a life of 100 years +. They cost around a fiver each if i remember correct.
A good comprimise is something like Spanish slate, about £2 each and they can be a nice dark colour, looking pretty close to welsh slate.
Make sure the roofing firm use 45x38mm tanilised battens. Some use a thinner wood, which meets regulations but gives a hint as to how cheaply thier mindset is. A decent roofer will take pride and use the larger battens.
Oh, and practice boling the kettle and scooting up a ladder carrying 4 cups of tea every 2 hours !
re-roofing a house sounds dramatic, but its quite a quick job.
