How,

because at the most fundamental level, not everything can be explained by causation and/or purpose.

To understand a causal relationship you must first understand the situation -- the way it is, how it is-- that one could cause the other. The diagnosis always precedes. Moreover, knowing all the structural components to a phenomenon either makes causal roles irrelevant, or includes them in the demonstration.

It really depends on the circumstances. For example:

In a criminal trial I would think that the How is the most important question. With this question you are able to figure out who did it and convict them.

In a relationship when it comes to emotions, the Why would be more important. Not How did you go about cheating on me but Why would you such a thing?

The answer to why provides us meaning. Without meaning there is no sense in taking action. Therefore why is the first and most important question to be answered.

They are both important, but some people are only able to deal with the "hows" and would rather not know the "whys". My personal preference is that I want to know why I am doing something as well as how I will do it.

"And Why" is the most important of the 3 questions because it already shows a dialog in process.

I think "why?" is more important because sometimes "how?" can not be answered or explained. For example, many spiritual truths can be explained as why but not as how.

For me its " Why ? " because I think its pointless to have something without a purpose.
