Always try to be kind. A good way to get out of this kind of conversation is to say: I am so sorry, but I have an appointment I must keep, talk to you soon, then just walk away. You got away from a person without hurting their feelings.

If you don't tell them now that you don't want to be involved, you are going to waste alot of your time standing around and smiling and nodding. Get it over with and just tell them you have better things to do
