If he committed the same number of crimes, and in the same way, probably just as successful.

Serial killers are more likely to be caught the more crimes they commit, increasing the chances of a mistake. Serial killers are still most often caught by accident (either theirs or the police)

jack the ripper still would have been pretty successful in his killings but he would have been caught, most serial killers back then and now subconsciously wanted to get caught. if he wanted to kill he wouldve, but we would have found clues a lot quicker, and his clues were pretty obvious, he liked taking peices off his victims

remember the green river killer? in this day and age of forensic science, he managed to kill scores of prostitutes and evade capture/ arrest for decades. there are no givens or absolutes in anything. (except on TV or at the movies)

Perhaps and errant hair or two could have caught him (if he was in the data base), but he would still be highly elusive
