This person is a concrete finisher. I have already bought him a nice watch for going out, but he really needs one for work. What do you recommend for a good, inexpensive (under $100), tough watch for a very rough, dusty job?

I'm in the HVAC trade and with all I do and the different places and environments I have to deal with I would choose nothing else but a Fossil. I had one that I wore for 10 years at least. I broke the band finally but the watch still works. Perhaps some day I'll fix the band and start wearing it again to see if I can get another 10 years out of it.

I was an iron worker, I just bought Timex. The batteries alone last about 3 years, they are usually around $30 for a good one.

Hands down Timex wins......I'm a plumber and have had several blue collar jobs such as his throughout my days and I have never had anything but a Timex......has to be shock and water resistant with Indiglo and a velcro strap for quick adjusting......you could go cheap for 20 bucks and get a basic one or you could spend about 50 bucks and get one with a little character!

A $20.00 Timex is your best bet. They do "take a lickin and keep on tickin"
Mine usually last 3-5 years and is cheap to replace when I finnaly do ruin it.
Be certain it is shock & water resistant and the Indiglo is a must.

I have been in construction over thirty years. I like GUARDDOG watches. They clip to your belt and fold up, so the crystal is protected. Simple watch is $50 and one with alarm is $80. You can find them at duluthtradingcompany.com
