It's not an island; it is a spot in the southern Atlantic ocean where planes and boat mysteriously disappear.

Check this site for more info on it:

It's not an island.....it's just a large, deep area between NC, Bermuda and South America. There is a LOT of travel in that area and so there is much that could happen.

The story started because compasses do funny things there....there is a large fluctuation in the needle due to the earth's magnetic fields, so someone just made up stories about the odd occurences.

I believe Seeker. All this human beings here claiming methane bubbles are the in charge forgot that the Bermuda Triangle is extremely favorite for taking down boats besides as PLANES. I even have traveled from the Unites States to Puerto Rico many circumstances (crossing the triangle each and every time) and that i'm nevertheless alive. it is all BS, in my view.

it's a paritculae place where alot of ships have been sunk and planes too. the thing is that everytime, the pilot or captain will not know where he is and will be lost, than he will lose contact and no radio signal can be given. hundreds or even thousands of ships have been sunk. the people who live near that place are fishermen who would fish. There are sword fishes there. Oh ya, it's not a island, it's a part of the sea. for ex fight 19, all of its crew were gone and we don't know where the plane or crew is. maybe if they are lucky, they got swept onto some island near by.
It's not a mystery actuallly. In geo, the ships and planes get lost because the weather is very bad, they experience storms , unexpexted ones and the weather turn suddenly. and the current is very absurb, as in, you never know when you are goingto be caught in a storm.

There is no real mystery. It's true that ships and planes occasionally disappear in the Bermuda Triangle, which is defined by Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Miami. (It is a region of the ocean, not an island.) However, this is an extremely busy section of the ocean, and the number of disappearances is not out of propotion to the number of vessels that pass through the region.

HAHA... The Berumuda Triangle is NOT an island. Bermuda is an Island and is one of the corners of the triangle. Anything that is mysterious about it is not proven, although there are supposed to be strange magnetic fields around that area.

The mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is that people believe there are mysterious things happening there when there aren't. It's hype that started with a book called "Invisible Residents" describing the supposedly strange things that happen there and the civilization that
lives beneath our oceans.Hmmm - I wonder if they have Wal-Marts.

The mystery is how so many modern, rational people could believe such as silly story. That is what is so mysterious about the Bermuda Triangle to me.

I myself believe that it is just a superstition that is feeding on itself to stay alive. Many uneducated people are confused and don't understand logic, that's why they fall victim to the "ex post facto" fallacy (look it up!). Without such a mistake in logical thinking, the Bermuda Triangle "mystery" would have died long ago.

It has to do with the earths magnetic fields apparently its much higher there then elsewhere so it tends to mess with modern navigtional equipment and vessles get lost.
