If one of the rags gets caught it can. There will also be a sign there somewhere that say's something to the effect of "use at your own risk" so be aware.
It'll probably be allright though.

Does it really matter? If you are driving a mercedes you have enough cash to go out and get another one put on. If you are that worried, then you might try [gasp!] washing it yourself.
