I recieved a letter from US Claims Service, a company in Bakersfield CA that said I have unclaimed money/property. They want me to send $49.95 + tax and they will send me the forms to fill out to claim my money. I've never heard of this company and tried to research them online, but I couldn't find anything about them. Has anyone heard of them? Or done business with them?

These are generally SCAMS.

You send in the $49.95, they run a search and come back and say that they couldn't find anything.

Most states have a listing of all unclaimed property that you can access for FREE. Here in Minnesota, the MN Dept of Commerce keeps the list but it may vary by state. Search your own state's list along with any state that you lived in.

A ligit business would give you state information. The state holds claim to these assets. If there are such items a state gov office could verify this.
