Just been on Microsoft word. I want to do some practice times tables and facts for my son, as he has a test every Friday.
He also has to do some divide facts, but how do I do the divide symbol on a computer keyboard?

Da*n guys! give her a break. he's EIGHT years old. He's not going to know the / sign yet. she was asking for the old fashioned division symbol. jeez...

Anyway,
scroll through all the menu's and look for symbols...it should be in there. it'll take a lil more time having to do that but oh well. Or you could teach him the /...he'll need that for HS anyway.

In WORD

Left click on INSERT

Left click SYMBOL

You will find the division sign on row 12

L click of the sign

L click on insert

Although your son is only 8 it would be a good idea to make up some of your practice tables using this sign as well as the / and also the horizontal line format.

In this way he will learn all of the different methods. This is really is important because sometimes seeing a strange symbol can throw kids (and adults) even though they know what to do when they see the sign the recognise.

Best of luck

The only way to do it on a computer keyboard is to use the forward slash. You have to have special programs to have the symbol for the division sign. Hope it helps! <3

usually a back slash will surfice such as ' / ' but seeing that you are using Ms Word, you can go 'insert' > 'symbols'.

in there you will find a whole lot of mathematical symbols.
