Neither.

All situps and crunches or any ab excercise will do (you should be doing 4-5 different types) is BUILD your abs.

They will build the muscles in your abs and make them stronger. In order to see your abs you must do a combination of changing your eating habits and excercise.

What you eat is most of the game not even 51% more like 80-90% because you CAN lose weight by doing little or no excercise and just eating healthy, but you CANNOT lose weight by eating like crap and just excercising. Thats why people who say "well I hardly eat" or "but I work out x times a week" are still fat.

abs are built in the kitchen not in the gym.

Learn about proper nutrition and how to eat healthy, it doesn't involve starvation (not eating lowers your metabolism) and it doesn't involve a fad diet that is unhealthy for you like Fatkins.

Begin with gettin nutrition information from a credible sourse (not a diet book, but a nutrition book). My suggestiion would be to buy some nutritionist textbooks or you can look to Eat Drink and be Healthy, the harvard medical school guide to healthy eating- it is written more friendly and is not a diet book.

If you want to supplement your diet and raise your metabolism (helps burn calories and lets you take in more if you are eating right) then do an excercise routine designed to tone your body and build lean muscle as opposed to stregth training.

HIIT is the best cardio you can possibly do (high intensity interval training). Quite simply it is periods of sprinting (or swimming, biking whatever as fast as you possibly can) followed by equal or less periods of jogging (your normal cardio speed).

Then add a weight routine designed to tone your body, little rest in between sets and high reps 10-12 per set. circuit training where you do one of each excercise with no more than 30 seconds rest in between each set, then rest for a minuite and do another whole circuit is such a thing.

You absolutely should not ignore your abs or "core" and actually before you lift you should do your abs, back, obliqes, transverse abdominis first as it can add stregth and balance to your other excercises if you have a strong core.

Take a stroll for one million/two an hour an afternoon every day. Go get a type of exercize balls the colossal ones, & sit down on it at all times, as an alternative of making use of a chair. so thats speak a stroll & sit down on it, how convenient is that!

There is only one way to lose weight, control what you eat, and use sheer will power to keep up with this regimen.
