The best was by the same writer, Alan Moore; that ws Miracleman, which took a long forgotten ripoff of Captain Marvel and made him into something so much greater than even the original. But Judge Dredd is up there. And don't forget Middenface McNulty of the Strontium Dogs! (also in 2000 AD magazine.)
