Although he calls himself a “Vietnam era veteran”, Bush did not fight in Vietnam and never learned the lessons of that war. He wants to “stay the course” so that he is not seen to back down. This comes from his overly-simple view of the world; he thinks and speaks in simple, black and white terms, clinging to a swaggering cowboy mentality that was out of date when Theodore Roosevelt was president.

He, and the Neo-Con chickenhawks of the Committee for a New American Century who form his administration, have an idealistic vision of America as the dominant world power and the rest of the world as our labor and raw materials resource pool, gratefully accepting what scraps we deign to throw them. They are also protecting various private interest groups and corporate entities that paid heavily into his campaign coffers and are now making money hand over fist by supplying our military and the government of Iraq.

With any luck, the Democrats in congress will press for an investigation into the fraudulent information that got us into the war, the Plame case, the no-bid billion dollar contracts awarded to Bush and his cabinets businesses for the reconstruction of Iraq, and the massive cost over-runs on those contracts that we, the taxpayers will be paying for and the exponentially swelling national debt. This is how a system of checks and balances should work.

Unfortunately the arena for fighting is in Iraq right now. As long as the radical Islamists from the surrounding countries keep sending in reinforcements, it will stay there. The war would have been over shortly after it started otherwise. If we ignore the radical Islamists we will be sorry. There are these groups in Darfer and other countries making war against innocent people who don't want to adopt their religion. It may only be a matter of time before they attack in the US again, we need to stay the course and win in Iraq to slow them down.I would recommend watching ,Obsession, Radical Islams War Against The West.

Because he isn't doing the fighting. He is a war president and will say anything to sound like a "bad ***". Funny thing because he never fought a war in his life. He thinks that by "staying the course", people will think he's participating. Bush is the anti-christ and should be destroyed. Thank you.

Because his wealthy friends need to keep raking in the money that war brings in. When he invaded Iraq billions of dollars started to flow into the coffers of the wealthy. Need I mention Halliburton for one with VP Chaney as the former CEO. Contracts handed out without opportunity for public bids? The longer they stay there the more money will flow. It's no big secret. Everyone knows and it's been all over the news. Can you guess who's paying for it all?
