The winner of the world cup should not necessarily be considered as the best football team in the world. However, they are the ones who was the most consistent and got the right results at the right times in that tournament. Everyone knows that Brazil is practically the strongest team in the world. However, they had one bad day against France and thus was knocked out.
The world cup is 7 games max for each team. This tournament was meant to bring out the best in all teams so that we could determine the best footballing nation in the world. The best team in the world must be rated by consistency, such as in a league. The WC can give us an indication of this.
I do not believe in changing the structure since it will conflict with leagues and cause players to fatigue and get injured more often. It is set up like this so that all teams must bring their A-games at the right times. If not, then they have no chance of being called world champions. Greece showed us this in Euro 2004, and they were in no way the best team in that tournament!!
Simple...win or go home!

sometimes
I mean some world cup winners really deserved the world cup while other were just lucky.
2006 WC the best team won the tournament, Italy played very well despite the injuries they got ( Nesta , Zambrotta at times and Tottis injury affected him in the WC ). Italy won Germany the team that impressed us all 2-0 and no one can say that was luck. In the final the penalty wasn't right I swear Italy should ve won 1-0 . Isn't wired that France won agaisnt Portugal with a penalty too and one last thing Italy were the best they only accepted 2 goals one was an own goal ( Zaccardo ) and the other was the penalty.
Most ppl say that France deserved to win the WC just cuz they had more chances to score but why couldn't they score ? cuz Italy played with strategy not LUCK.

Well, there is no one best way to determine the best team, as obviously everyone has their different opinions. What we have now is probably the best way in terms of schedules and timing. Maybe in many years to come FIFA will come up with a different way of determining the best team in the world, but for now the World Cup is the best indicator.

Definitely no. If Brazil play against Italy. Frankly speaking, Brazil will win. But that's the fixtures of the world cup. There's nth we can do. We know deep in our hearts who are the best. If Italy is the best, like other forumers, they wont have lost to france 3 -1 during the euro 2008 qualifier.

HeLL Noooooooooo..........just because a team wins the world cup doesn't make them the very best out there!! What if the team which won the world cup got drawn in an easy group.........?? There are a number of factors to consider before you decide which is the better team..........look at the players discipline, the team's moral and stats, their sporstmanship, their performance.........and then decide.........;)

No its not right to think so, cause personally I think Brasil andd England had to play in the last world cup final, cause they have shown the best progress, and Australia deserved to be in the semi's. France played absolutly sh*t and yet they were in the finals. Luck is every where, fortunatly for them, unfortunatly for me and the others...
Its not fair, but that is how the game is. If you win, its suppose to be deserved.

No, I think it should be a mini league not a knock out competition. It would be alot fairer.
