In lawful sense it kinda has. Except for affirmative action, there isn't anything sanctioned by the state that gives a race a right over another race.
In a societal sense, no. People are who they are and racism comes from all races towards all races. Deragatory terms abound for races and are justified by the people that use them. My own latino race has disappointed me in the fact that I have heard more racist comments from the latinos I have been surrounded by more than any other races I have had involvement with in the past. But no, I believe it will never truly end (in that sense). We each have to do our own part and at least be able to continue to create a world intolerant of racism.

Sadly I doubt it - because it is something that ALL side practice and each generation gradually learns the prejudices of their elders.
There is also a fine line *somewhere* perhaps between racism and having pride in your own culture / race.
In truth though, I think the biggest problem with racial tension in the UK - and quite possibly the US - is NOT the white folks OR the black folks - it is the "politically correct muppets" that try to censor ALL rational discussion and try to play around with "positive discrimination".
All positive discrimination does is to fuel anger (understandable) where there was none before. Crazily, folks on all sids and races seem to agree for the most part on this - and yet still it goes on.
Sad, but I think it will be around for a while.

I hope so. Unfortunately, it will be around as long as people let it. I don't think it will end until every race can talk to each other without a feeling of superiority or inferiority. Rather than shunning people that are different to us, we should approach them with curiosity and try to learn from all cultures. We are all the same in God's eyes.

Unfortunately no, too many people feel threatened by a person who looks or acts differently than they do. Racism is not limited to white people. It is practiced by ALL races and cultures. I would venture to say that each of us has some kind of racist or cultural bias, we just might not be willing to admit we do.

Racism has been here since the beginning of time, do you honestly think it will? As long as there are different races, someone will hate the other for any given reason. Sad, but true.

No. Unfortunately I think there will always be people out there that hate others for no other reason than their heritage or skin color. Racism is ignorance and ignorance will always be around.

Not until the world realises it has bigger problems than the colour of skin or the shape of eyes.
In all seriousness, I think it's going to take a huge war that will drive us beyond discrimination simply so we can survive. I envision a bomb shelted where people of all races lay huddled, fearing for their lives. I really do hope to God it doesn't come to that though.

No because people are just to darn stubborn to educate themselves to other people's cultures, beliefs and lifestyles. Especially people in the good ole U.S.A. Heck, people fight over whose God is the greatest. Racism is biggest waste of energy, time and life on the planet but what can you do? People would rather fight for their ignorant beliefs than educate themselves and live in harmony!

Ronald Reagan once said how quickly we would overcome racial barriers and fight together if we were faced with an alien invasion. I think that's about the only thing that would make us forget about race or color, because we are all from earth. Sad but true, we act like some of us are more 'human' than others because of color.

I would like to say yes. But it seems sometimes there are people who never want it to. We live in upstate New York and it still shows here at times. My best friend is African American and his wife is white. We still get stares and comments when we go out. My wife is Hispanic and the same thing happens to us. Be who you are I say and treat people for who they are not what the color of their skin is.
