You can easily backup your dying machine using Acronis True Image. As far as I've understood you just want to backup data to CDs/DVDs, so I think that you don't need the latest version of ATI which possesses some advanced features. In case I'm right you can just download a free version of ATI from here: http://www.acronis.com/mag/vnu-ati7

Call your nearest computer store or someone that specifically sells HP products. They can help you. Memory stick SOUNDS LIKE your computer memory MAY BE overloaded and/or your hard drive is about to totally crash. The dealer info. I just mentioned can help clarify the problem. FYI: I'm not being bossy or pushy, but our hard drive crashed completely on the last computer we had before we knew what the problem was (we've only been on the internet since 9-7-2004). Please look into this pronto for your sake.

All depending on how much needs to be backed up? a Memory stick available ANYWHERE, any computer store to radio shack to office max are quite neat, but they only can hold so much, if you computer has allready dies, I would try taking out the hard drive and hooking it to another computer as a slave drive and remove data

Buy an external hard drive for $70 and then it will come with back-up software.
