I agree with Pia. Lock him up in a glass cage so all the world can watch him grow old in chains. Personally I would love to have a hand on the rope that hangs him, but I believe he would prefer death over life in prison. Give him to Sheriff Joe in Phoenix.

Saddam will be executed for his heinous crimes against humanity. Hanging Saddam, a nice public hanging, like a common criminal is a good thing.
It reminds the scumbags of the world that there awaits for them, too, an ignominious end.

Pia, he won't be a martyr because he followed the rules of the new democracy too well. If he decided to not appeal the decision, he would look much more like a martyr, because by doing so, he is following the rules of the court, that he is not forced to follow

yes, and it also be clarified that the long term policy of the USA is to punish by death such persons as Saddam, not only in Iraq. maybe some other dictators will modify their murderous tendencies.

No. He was a brutal dictator, but as we are starting to see, it just might take a brutal dictator to control Iraq's various faction.
Imagine if the confederates had won the Civil War, and decided to have a trial of Abraham Lincoln because he was responsible for killing 100,000's of thousands of Americans.

So how does killing people who kill people teach that killing people is wrong? It dosen't; it's simply barbarism in response to barbarism. Life in prison at hard labor is the only means appropriate for dealing with capital crime. Anyone who insists upon capital punishment is as vile a creature as is the one convicted, and deserves the same loathing from civilized society as if they themselves had participated in the original crime.

I do not think that it would be right to torture him by leaving him in a prison cell for the rest of his life. I think that life in prison is ABSOLUTELY inhumane and the cruelest form of torture there is. My opinion is that the death penalty is a much more humane form of punishment.

I would rather he was psychologically tortured for about 20 years, first. Screw with his head, turn him into a pathetic creature who cries and drools all day. But hanging would be OK, shooting would be OK, lethal injection would be OK, anything, as long as we never let him go free.
