honest, when someone gives me a 1000 word answer it pisses me off. usually he or she would answer the question in the first sentence, then go on and on and some crap that has absolutly nothing to do with the question. a simple yes or no would do, not the ******* history or the thing.

Well this is a complex question and I think that it is best answered from a social psychology point of view focused as a doctoral thesis on the drive for competition inherent in all......... lol. Just funnin ya:) If the answer deals specifically with a question it should be understood that the person asking does not need a comprehensive lesson on everything leading up to the asking of the question, just answer the dang thing straight and to the point.

I saw an answer that was lifted complete from wikipedia that went on for miles.
The ones I hate are those that go off on a tangent.
I asked a question and one responded with a diatribe on how I was a horrible father, neglecting my family and children by wasting time on this site.
It was not germane to the issue i asked, so please keep it to yourself.

Geez, work on your attention span. I like it when people give decent answers, it shows that they've taken the time to think about my question properly instead of writing one useless line with 'lol' at the end. I thought the point of this place was to get ANSWERS not inane comments with about one second of thought behind them.

That's asinine. I saw an answer once, on the homeschooling site, where the lady copied her entire blog for a year and put it on there. That was painful to even scroll through.

sometimes it is uneccessary, but they are trying to get best answer. I hate when i don't get an answer to my question but a 1000 word essay on the complete opposite: I'm with you, just answer the damn question even if it takes one word, if they want u to explain they'll ask. I feel you completely...

Yes it is frustrating and if you choose to pick a best answer who wants to read a bunch of rambling, ranting, poorly written responses?
