The aim of the course I am studying is to provide an opportunity to study works from the period 1630-1700 in their political and cultural context. the period which saw the civil war, the restoration of the monarchy. and the revolution of 1688, was one during which writers were deeply involved in the political issues of the day, and debates, about forms of domestic, national, colonial, and religious authority feature prominently in the course. At the same time, the later seventeenth century saw radical changes in the disclosure of love and sexual relations and in the presentation of urban cultures.

The literature which I have to concentrate on is: Aphra Behn, Oroonoko, The Rover and Other works, William Congreve's Love for Love, George Etherege's Man of Mode and John Milton's, Paradise Lost.

Conentrating on the cavalier poetry of marvell and lovelace, hobbes and locke too.
