I have read about alot of old wives tales and what some midwives suggest and use. But here I am 38 weeks and very miserable. Trying to avoid having a 9 lb child.

Twisting your nipples does work, as a previous poster stated. Not alot of Dr's want woment to know of this technique, as it can bring labor on very strong and fast. Not alot of women would think to do this, as it's a little weird. It makes your body feel that a baby is on your breast, and contractions start. Get your other half to help if you are uncomfortable doing it, and if labor starts quickly, get yourself to the hospital/birthing center ASAP. Only do it if you are ready to go!
Good luck to you and yours, and ALOHA!

I self-induced by using my breast pump. Ten minutes on each breast three times a day for two days and that did the trick, my labor was also very quick, I was 37 weeks and my OB told me that my baby would be 9lbs too and I might need a c-section. I was so scared, this is what my Lamaze teacher told me this was safe and it really worked, best wishes:-)

Squats can help get your labor started. What you do is hold the squat long enough to feel the pressure build significantly and then push down. It will help you dilate, efface and possibly go into labor. If it's difficult for you to squat use a wall to lean against. Good luck.

What worked for me with both of my children was having a pregnancy massage and then going for a long walk the same day. With both of my children I did this and labor started later that night. I was not at 40 weeks yet with either of mine.

Yeah, caster oil is bad. My mom did that and she had the baby 45mins later. really I don't think there is any thing you can do. The baby is going to come when it comes. just try, being your feet alot. But still ralaxing that it doesn't hurt you. Yes sex can help. Good luck and wish you the best.

Go for a walk and have sex.. it's what I did and went into labor that night. I was 3 days late and showed NO signs of going, I wasn't even dilated.

I have always heard walking helps to bring on contractions, but I don't think it does any good before the baby is ready. Try a pregnancy massage to help make you more comfortable.

Eat eggplant parmesan and drink papaya juice (and sex helps too).
With my first child, I ate eggplant parmesan and went into labor within 24 hours..10 days early.
With my second child, I drank so much papaya juice and she was 2 weeks early (I too was miserable...)
