and who would best portray her?
I know The Rose was made years ago with Bette Midler(one of her best films), but this was only loosely based on Joplin's life and did not feature her music. Any thoughts?

Okay, it looks like she is one of several artists considered for the part, along with Melissa Etheridge, Brittney Murphy and Pink. Finding an actress seems to be the least of their problems. The real stumbling blocks are finding a decent script and securing the rights to her music. Also, more than one studio has been working on getting a Janis Joplin film produced, working titles I have found include "Janis: the Movie" and "Piece of my Heart".
I would definitely like to see a film of her life. She was already gone by the time I was old enough to appreciate her music. I hope they take their time to create an accurate and vivid depiction, but not too much time!

I think Joss Stone would be a good Janis Joplin. She has that sound. I don't know about talks of a film.

I read about that on MSN and it said that the film makers were wanting Lindsey Lohan to play her!!!!!! Why!?!?! there are plenty of amazing actresses so why choose Lindsey f*****g Lohan? This is a Janis Joplin biopic, not Britney Spears!
