It also happens when I try to open a file in Powerpoint, Frontpage, etc? Can someone help me and tell me what to do? My operating system is Microsoft Windows XP.

Most probably you havent installed office, any of its features or one of the programs that are directly linked to ms office.
Try to open it again and see what the windows installer window tries to install; then you should try to finish the installation of that program that causes that(it may be your antivirus, ms office tool features, or even Ms office itself).

You need to place the installation disk into the CD drive. The program most likely was not fully installed or activated after being installed. It will install a few files and then prompt you for activation and registration. Activation must be done, registration is voluntary. After you complete these few steps, you should not see the install dialogue again. I just went through this yesterday, installed under administrator, install finished, I rebooted, logged on as a different user and up came the box. I did what I said above and was good to go, have a great day.

It is because you don't have the Administrative rights on the system. What you need to do is login to the system as an administratrator (if you are not the administrator then get the person with administrative rights to do this for you) and open word, excel, etc... once and let it install. Then login back into your account and start the program now it will show one last time the windows installer screen.

Hope this helps.
