Yes of course you should go see the new baby, if she is really a friend she will understand about your finances. Friendship is not about what or how much money you do or do not have. Have you thought about making a present or card something that comes from the heart will have much more positive energy.

My friend gave birth a few weeks ago & I was skint, I have 3 of my own children to buy for so I went round with a £2.99 box of chocolates for her, it's cheap & it made her feel heaps better as everyone else had been buying for the baby!

go and see her! i am sure she would reather see you if she is your best friend than a gift. Tell her you have a gift for the baby and you will bring it along to her soon, im sure her family will not think bad of you at least you are taking time to visit your time is worth more than a few quid!

Your friend will always be happy to see you and you can always take the excuse that you would like to know if she would prefer having something for the baby or for the babies room !! like that you will have a little while to get it without offending your friend by not seeing her.

hi, im sure she would be glad to see a friendly face now and show her baby off, just tell her you feel bad and will buy the baby something nice when you have the money rather than just getting any old thing...im sure if you make a big fuss of her and the baby it will make her just as happy....good luck

If you are that close friends it won't matter that you haven't got a present. She will just be glad to share this special time with you.Be honest with her,I'm sure she'll understand.

if shes a true friend she will understand the situation so just give her and the baby a big hug and kiss. it will mean more than a prezzie

Make her a 'gift token' saying:

'I promise to be there for you whenever you need help, whether it's for the baby or for you. Call on me whenever you need someone.'

You can always get something later on.

lets see. explain the situation. take something nice like love and care to your friend. that is what she will want more. she will want you there to talk to about everytihg and tell her that you will get the baby something as soon as you get paid. i know thats what i would want!!!

If you are not ashamed, you could just explain the situation to her. After all, your presence is more important than a gift.
