I have a 6-9 month supply of a prescription anti-depressant that retails for over $400. Is there a legal way to get some of my money back out of it?

Yes of course it is illegal.

And suggestions that a drug company or pharmacy might buy them back are just misinformed gusses. Why would a drug company give you your money back when they can produce fresh drugs for a tiny fraction of the cost you paid? How would they verify that you did not contaminate the drugs?

Take the loss and don't get yourself thrown in jail.

It is absolutely illegal and puts you in the category of someone selling heroin or cocaine. All unused drugs should be returned to a pharmacist for safe disposal, maybe he can do something for you regarding payment? However, I don't think they are allowed to reuse drugs, you never know what someone has done with them. I would ask the question tho' why a doctor supplied you with such an enormous amount of drugs, that strikes me as bordering on being illegal it is certainly irresponsible.

The only thing you might could do is to call the company that produced them, especially if their brand name and not generic. You could do this by speaking with the pharmacy from where you recieved them. The company may be willing to buy them back to you at a lower cost depending on how old they are. Pills like anything else have a shelf life and at some point lose their effectiveness. There should be a date on your pill bottle regarding this. Also I would speak with whoever prescribed you to get that many at one time. Usually that's why they have you refill them in case you do get better and don't need them or in case they have a short shelf life and would go bad. They might be responsible for reimbursing you.

100% illegal. You can be charged with selling a controlled substance. Probably a misdemeanor. But the last thing you want is a conviction for selling drugs.

You bet your bippy it is! It will garner you the same elite status among law enforcement as those who sell illiceit drugs! (It's a felony and possibly "felonies" if you get caught!) It is meant for the "prescribed" individual ONLY! I believe most prescription labels have that warning label on them!

It is called "Dispensing Drugs without a License". If you are "depressed" over losing money take the drugs yourself.

Absolutely illegal, sorry. Selling those would make you a drug dealer... better watch out and say goodbye to the money!

There is no legal way... but a common way to do it (if you live near a big city) is to bring to a local "bodega". They will buy it from you and sell it in their store to people who are actually prescribed it but don't have insurance or enough money to buy it through legal channels.

Yes its illegal.. hello!

Dont flush them. Bring them to a pharmacy and they will dispose of them safely. No they wont resell them, and no, you cant get a refund. Prescriptions are final sale, one time only, done and done.
