My R3000 ac adapter port on the back of my laptop has a broken pin where you plug it in. So I cannot charge my battery or get ac power. I'm buying a new laptop but want to get old info off this laptop. HP/Compaq has been no help since now my laptop is out of warranty by 40 days. I even asked to buy a fully charged battery from them. All they keep suggesting is that I buy a new one or pay $500+ to repair this one. If someone could help I would pay for shipping the battery to me and shipping it back. I would need 2 days to use it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out and understand my problem.

Yes I can afford battery but they don't come FULLY charged. That's the problem. I need one already charged.

Contact your local Computer Guy, there are ways to get the disk and the data out of your laptop without powering it up.

If you can afford a new laptop, you can afford the battery.
