gun control legislation won't deter criminals from accessing firearms?

They never seem to be able to substantiate their bogus claims with statistical evidence because deep down inside they know how wrong they are. Yet they continue to be so closed-minded about the issue. This is just one of the many ways that the political left is trying to destroy this country.

I like to call what they have "ignoramic stupidity"... This country (USA) was founded with and has grown to be the world's most powerful nation with the right to keep and bear arms... It's always been that way here and what makes them think that changing that wouldn't possibly effect that?... If it works and it has worked for centuries before all of us were here than why would anyone want to change that? It should be unlawful to try and change that, after all I thought that is why they added that the right to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed"... The future could lead to a time where the right to bear arms would be more nesessary than it has ever been... without it we would all be depending on someone else for our saftey... Do you really want to have to trust anyone else for you and your families safety?

Gun control is anti consitution, although the congress and the courts have re written and trashed the second ammendment, which Jefferson (father of the bill of rights said he drafted so that people could protect themselves from their government! Look at crime statics even when compaired to the rsie in population violent crimes have only risen per capita since the onslought of gun control. I have a very close friend who was recently raided by the feds because some punk told them he had an ak47 he brought back from Nam, 35 years ago! Hes facing jail time now for a war soviouneer that he made non automatic by removing the seer pin and replacing it!

Proud NRA life member here and I totally agree with your statement. All gun control does is take away the guns of the law abiding citizens. And what's going to happen if they ban guns? Our violent crimes will go up because the criminals know that no one has any means of protecting themselves. Ya know if the legislators tried to alter the 1st amendment as much as the do the 2nd...they'd be a lot less popular and have more people screaming at them. People need to realize the truths and not just the negatives of what they read or hear about guns.

GUNS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.

These people will be the first to "go" if and when we fight another war on American soil. These are the people who will be unable to defend their own homes. My father had guns in our home when I was growing up. The thought never crossed my mind or any of my 8 siblings minds to take one of those guns to school. We were educated by our parents from a very young age that guns are NOT toys. (We were never allowed to have toy guns because of this.)

Education is the key. What happened to parents educating children about guns? I shot a gun for the first time at age 8 under my father's watchful eye. This was only after he had taught me and showed me the damage a gun can do. (He shot a watermellon to illustrate this point.) I have had a loaded gun held to my head. Because of the education I had regarding guns, I was scared. I knew what could happen.

It doesn't matter how much legislation is passed regarding gun control. The criminals don't care. They are criminals and will continue to have them. Those of us who won't are the law-abiding citizens who would do what the law says. I have guns in my home. They are secure and not loaded at all times. I will keep those guns as long as the law allows and I will fight against anyone who attempts to pass legislation revoking my 2nd Ammendment rights.

Let's not forget one simple fact: The most common weapon used in murder is a KITCHEN KNIFE. A weapon we all have several of in each and every household in America. Are we going to ban them next?

mmmm, lets look at all the facts...........
(1) However, when the President addressed the National Peace Officers' Memorial Day Service held at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol on May 15, he left no doubt that it was George Bush himself who was proposing to make the import ban permanent and to outlaw the importation, manufacture, sale or transfer of gun magazines of more than 15 rounds.

As if to rub salt in the wound, the media was telling us that Bush was taking advice on the gun issue from Jesse Jackson, one of the nation's most anti-gun politicians.

On June 22, the Bush Administration's "Comprehensive Violent Crime Control Act of 1989" was introduced. This bill does contain some excellent anti-crime provisions. Unfortunately, it also bans any future manufacture of "ammunition feeding devices" of over 15 rounds, severely restricts the transfer of those currently owned (providing for registration) and contains some scary language about making it "unlawful for any person to assemble any semiautomatic rifle or shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation...." (See the August legislative report in this issue for further details.)

.....................................
What about the brady bill?

All I am saying is there is more gray area in here then you might think. I voted for the first time ever all democrat for a million reasons, but I own guns including an assault rifle. I would not base my vote for who is going to lead this country on the (how much gun control) measures he supports.

Also I would read the complete 2nd amendment very closely, it is more about the federal government being able to have a regulated militia with guns to go against anyone against the federal government, foreign or anyone who apposes the federal government within the Country

so true. the problem lyes with any extreme view. So what does he want? take away guns from law abiding citizens so that only criminals have weapons, oh yeah that's the answer. lets try and make the point again. Guns do not kill people... PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. any thing can be use to take a life. should we ban screw drivers, steak knives, automobiles, any thing glass, I guess we will have to ban baseball too, can't have these bats available to the public.

Unfortunately, they seem to be stuck in a vacuum perpetuated by sites like this.

They also ignore the success of laws like our "Stand your Ground" legislation here in Florida.
This was hailed as the "Kill Bill" and "Shoot first, ask questions later bill". Angry letters from gun control advocates to newspapers all over Florida warned of "blood in the streets".
One Democratic Legislator said "this could only serve to turn Florida into the O.K. corral".

This law enables Florida citizens who are licensed for concealed
carrying of a firearm to defend themselves anywhere they have a legal right to be...sidewalk, grocery store, resturaunt, etc.....
and negates the false doctrine of flight over fight. This law also provides Legal Counsel for any citizen who is sued as a result of defending themselves with a gun, free of charge.

Gary Kleck, professor of criminology at F.S.U. has been studying gun violence throughout the U.S. since the mid 1970's. He refers to himself as an orthodox libreal, card carrying member of the A.C.L.U. He originally believed as most liberals do,
that the secret to diminishing gun violence was to keep guns out of the hands of citizens. Then he began to take his surveys.
Kleck concluded that well enforced concealed-carry laws REDUCE gun violence. This is in direct oppsition to the professor's statements in an interview he gave in 1997, so we see that some liberals can learn the truth that responsible gun owners have known for centuries.

I believe they do know exactly what you are trying to say. The problem is they don't care, it's just another way to destroy this country by completely leaving it's citizens unprotected.

If you believe something, truly believe, nothing and no one can change your mind. Especially if you are as close-minded as moore. These people have an agenda, and they will not listen to any ideas that do not correspond to their agenda.
