I have to say that I disagree with the above answers. You are NOT pregnant if you are still having your period. By period I mean, normal flow, same time of month, and things like that. In most cases of pregnancy there could be some implantation bleeding but, that is very light and pinkish in color. I am 5 months pregnant now and have read every book I can get my hands on, a doctor will tell you the exact same thing I just did. Good Luck!

I asked my doctor this one and he said NO. He said woman confuse a "regular period" with other types of bleeding. Most woman that bleed during pregnancy aren't really having their period. Because its light and shorter than a normal period. He said you shouldn't call it a period because it honestly isn't. You might bleed during pregnancy but it has nothing to do with the period. It could be all kinds of other things. Some good, some bad. So you could say you could be pregnant and still bleed but not have an actual period. He said if a woman does have a "regular period" that there might be something wrong or it just isn't heard of. Which meaning it would be really rare. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

I had a period at 4 weeks pregnant- ie at the exact time it was due. It was normal in all respects (tmi alert! sorry. super size sanitary towels for three days) but stopped abruptly in the middle of day three. Almost as though the womb lining sloughed off as normal, reached the place where the embryo was and thought: "ho, ho, better stop now".

That pregnancy ultimately ended in miscarriage three weeks ago, after two bleeds not at the time periods would have been. However, I do not think that bleeding in pregnancy necessarily means a pregnancy is less stable. Also, I know anecdotally of several women who have had apparently normal periods throughout pregnancy.

Doctors are I think taught that it is not possible to have a period whilst pregnant, but once you start talking to lots of people about women's reproductive issues, you realise that a lot of *impossible* things happen all the time.

Yep, a girl I went to school with was getting her period just like normal and she found out she was pregnant when the baby kicked her! She was almost 5 months along then, and she still got her period for a couple of months after that too. She had a healthy baby boy :)

Some women get spotting around the time of when their period would have been, but if your period is the same as normal then it's unlikely that you are pregnant because a period is happening because the egg wasn't fertilised.

Unfortunately the answer is yes - when my mum was having my she still had hers. If you are worried about bleeding during pregnancy though I'd go to your local Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital - they can do tests / scans to make sure everything is ok.

Good luck!

Yes. If you think the flow or the time was less than normal see a doctor immediately.

it depends if it's heavy or light? because if it's short and light you can be period.. but if it's heavy then you are not pregnant.. how ever all women are different.
