Every month, just before I ovulate, I start to feel really ill. I get chest pains, headaches, feel incredibly tired & ratty, and end up with terrible cramps when I actually ovulate.

This then leads to terrible mood swings for the next two weeks, and then just before I come-on I feel really tired again and all light-headed.

Is all this normal, should I get my hormones treated - any advice?

(I am not on the pill & can't go on it for medical reasons, and I take a daily magnesium/vitamin suppliment)

Get some blood work done at your GP, you could have problems relating to your pituitary gland, a gland which regulates hormones in your brain. I suffer with this but luckily only have migraines and not much abdominal pains. Get it looked at.

Everyone is different so this could be normal for you but not for others. There may be other medication that you can take to relieve these symptoms other than just the pill but as I'm not an expert I will not advise what. Go to a professinal and get yourself double checked and ask as many questions as you can... and good luck

Since you said you've already had some health problems that stop you from taking a BC pill, I don't think you can go wrong by talking to your doctor and letting them help you figure out the problem.

Everyone experiences PMS differnently and theres a chance you've just got it worse than others.

I get horribly grouchy when I ovulate. I just try to remember to take some pamprin or tylenol or beer.
