Stingray do not attack humans their sting is only for defense, and unlike scorpions their sting are not even use for hunting prey.

If you're swimming in swallows try not to skim along the surface of the sand, you can't see a buried stingray so if you swim right above it, it'll assume you're a predator (eg shark) attacking from the top.

If you walking in shallow water especially when it's muddy, use a walking stick to poke around where you're going to step. Stingray aren't the only thing that can hurt you if you step on them, there are rock fish, catfish and others that can give you a nasty sting if you step on them.

When a stingray attempt to sting you, there is actually not much you can do as it'll be very quick. The tail acts like a whip and it's over before you realize. Most people who get stung by stingray usually don't die, but it's really very painful, It's best for anyone stung by a stingray to get proper medical attention even if just a minor scratch.

Stingrays DO NOT attack.
People mess with them and they defend themselves, BIG difference.
Do the "stingray shuffle" to scare them away. Stingrays lay under the sand and so when walking into the water one should shuffle their feet which scares the stingray away. You'll see signs posted on Florida beaches giving such instructions to visitors.

Here's how to avoid being stung by a stingray:

1. Leave them alone
2. Don't be so stupid as to kill everything they poses any kind of threat to us.

If you don't swim near stingrays, they don't hurt you. Simple as that.

in response: Humans are much more dangerous things, they kill for fun and sport and entertainment or just to get something that someone else has, must we kill them all?
