One revolution signifies one complete Otto cycle (i.e.) Intake, Compression, Combustion, Exhaust(in d case of 4-stroke engines). To complete this one cycle the camshaft (to which d piston is attached) has to do one revolution.These revolutions r measured per minute.

actually the revolutions per minute says number cycles undergone by the pistons in the engine and as u rev it up it increase giving us the thrust and power from it and a meter not actually shows the exact RPM but to a certain exten!gud lck!

revolutions of the crankshaft, one revolution is two strokes of piston travel, not four, that is why two strokes have greater power output for equal displacements, they have one power stroke per revolution as opposed to one power stroke per two revolutions in a four stroke , remember, the camshaft travels at 1/2 crank speed.
