Not that I don't know or don't understand it, but I just would like to think a bit, together with you if we can do something with that, or is it something stronger than us.

Yesterday, I was looking at one old photo of my 3rd birthday celebration. My whole family and their friends were on it, looking at the objective, smiling, with certain honest joy in their eyes. All were elegant and looked honored to be invited. There is a special glance in this photo, glance that never happened again. My parents are still in good relations with them, still happy to see each other sometimes, by occasion, still in a god health, but never invite each other on celebrations, never go out together, never visit each other just like that – unless someone dies.

Sounds like family reunions the only time we see ppl from our past including family is at funeral or odd wedding. People grow make new friends move on its like they begin a new generation out with old in with new. maybe we should have reunion every 5 yrs or so contact ppl from our past catch up on old times would be worth thinking about,,

First, I appericiate your question ~ it is a good one.
There are so many things....communication gap, spreading of narrowness which is very much related with space crumbling, shortage of leisure, overwhelming pressure of earning & living "better"(!), micro-family setting.....

...honestly, I really miss the 'gathering'...........
