Julian Cruz Balmaceda was a composer/musician that made the first truly notable Filipino translation of 'Lupang Hinirang', the national anthem of the Philippines, as 'O Sintang Lupa' ('Oh Beloved Land').

He is a Filipino Author (translator) of the Philippine National Anthem from Spanish, written by Jose Palma and an English version written by Camilo Osias. Ildefonso and Balmaceda translated the original version, which is the Spanish, to Tagalog (Philippines National Language that time). They also put the title "Lupang Hinirang".
