I would have gone there for my higher studies but many of my aquaintences who have been there adviced me against it. According to them the Auzzies are the most racist people especially when it comes to Asians and Native aborigionies. Even a guy from Kenya and one from egypt told me the same thing. I want to know from the people those who have known Australians, are they racist? (I know normally only a few people are racist but does Australia have the maximum no. of such people.)

I am an Aussie living in florida and I can tell you that Aussies are not racist. Of course there are always a few morons wherever you go but in the main Aussies welcome everyone. Compared to the US we are not very racist at all.

There certainly are racists in Australia, yes. Most Aussies are not racist, however.
60 years ago there were virtually no non Celtic whites, but immigration policies fuelled by the need to 'populate or perish' opened the doors, first to Europe, then Asia. The population's a lot more diverse now, and more accepting of difference than pre WWII.
You'll find racism in Australia, like anywhere.

You'll find racist people in every country in the world and I don't believe Australia has a disproportionately larger number than any other. I am Australian and I do not have any racist friends or family members and have never met anyone who is.

Actually we're very multicultural. I'm Aussie and I'm Asian and I haven't gotten any grief, though the indigenous (aboriginal) people get it pretty bad, but that's an old issue that has never had the opportunity to heal. Of course there are racist people here and racist groups but you get stupid people everywhere, don't you? To tell you the truth, this question is very surprising. I've found the Asian countries I've been to to be more racist than here.

Well I am an australian so I can tell you from experience that your friends lied to you. I mean honestly where else in the world is there legal rights for the indegeonous people to claim native title for sacred ground and I would say if anything we are the most openly multicultural country you are ever likely to see. You can see for yourself I personally have alot of friends of a different ethnic background and do oyu know what the difference between them and me is..... not a thing
