Hi I have a Medium Jack Russell and a Rabbit. It really depends on your dogs personality. My rabbit is 9 months and my Jack is 6 years. I have had a little issue with the rabbit jumping on the the dog when he is sleeping and the dog growling, but once he realizes that it is just the rabbit he ends up kissing it. It is best to start by confine the rabbit to one room that is rabbit proof. I used a baby gate for a few days so the dog could see the rabbit, smell the rabbit and kiss the rabbit without them getting too close. My dog will occasionally chase the rabbit but then the rabbit will chase the dog. I use the phrase no chase. I have put him in his crate for a moment after he has chased the rabbit and when I let him out of his crate he goes up and kisses the rabbit. It might work for you depending on how your dog is with other animals. I also have four cats. The cats like the rabbit but the rabbit likes the cats more. Just take it slow and good luck.

I don't think dogs and small animals are necessarily a bad mix, it just depends on your dog. I have two dogs and pet rats, one dogs (beagle mix) would do anything in her power to eat the rats, where as the other (border collie mix) wouldn't notice if they were crawling all over him. I have a friend who has 2 pugs and 8 rabbits that all hop around her appartment together, and no one gets hurt. So it can work!
How your dog is with people and other dogs doesn't really reflect how she will be around small animals. You will need to test your dog around a rabbit. If you know someone who has a rabbit, let your dog smell the bunny in it's cage first. If she gets really excited about the rabbit, she would probably be too rough with one, even if she doesn't intend to hurt it. If she seems completely uninterested, this is a good sign. Don't put the bunny in any danger! Good luck.

I doubt it...we have 2 pit bulls and a doberman as well as 8 sugar gliders, 3 guinea pigs and 2 dwarf hamsters. They love to watch them, but they have never tried anything or acted agressive. I wouldn't recommend letting the bunny loose in the house without your supervision, because any dog may think that was a moving chew toy, but as long as you're around, the dog will know that the bunny isn't. Good luck!

I wouldn't take the chance A rabbit could trigger the prey drive in your dog .Your dog could chase the rabbit and possibly hurt it.It's natural for any dog to act this way.
